Due to our continued business and technical requirements, we are seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
The System Administrator will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring and support of the organisation’s computer systems, infrastructure and operating environments. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining reliable, secure and efficient system operations while supporting NextGen Identity’s specialised cybersecurity and identity management environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain and administer computer systems, servers, operating systems and associated infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, availability, capacity and reliability and undertake appropriate corrective action where required.
- Maintain and administer user accounts, system permissions, authentication controls and access privileges across enterprise environments.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, configuration changes and routine maintenance to maintain secure and stable operations.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, network and system-related issues.
- Implement and maintain backup, recovery and system restoration procedures to support business continuity requirements.
- Monitor system security, logs and access activities and assist in identifying and resolving system vulnerabilities and security issues.
- Administer Windows and/or Linux server environments and associated enterprise infrastructure.
- Support Active Directory, directory services, authentication systems and identity-related infrastructure.
- Maintain system configurations and ensure appropriate security controls, access policies and administrative standards are applied.
- Provide technical support for system integrations involving Identity and Access Management, Privileged Access Management and related cybersecurity platforms.
- Maintain technical documentation, system configuration records, operating procedures and infrastructure documentation.
- Liaise with technical consultants, cybersecurity specialists, vendors and other stakeholders to resolve system and infrastructure issues.
- Recommend improvements to system performance, security, reliability and administrative processes.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional experience in system administration or a closely related technical role for a minimum of two years.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server administration.
- Experience with Active Directory, directory services, user administration and access controls.
- Knowledge of system security, authentication, authorisation and identity management principles.
- Experience in system monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, backup and recovery.
- Understanding of cloud and enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Exposure to Identity & Access Management, Identity Governance, Privileged Access Management or cybersecurity environments will be highly regarded.
- Strong analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a specialist technical team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
