About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Quarry Manager your role will be to build and develop a motivated production team to achieve company safety, environmental and financial targets. You will ensure that the quarry pit development process is carried out in a cost-effective manner with a focus on continuous improvement to achieve business objectives and targets, ensuring that all customer, safety and environmental requirements are met.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage pit operations and lead the Pit Team.
- Share the Lead with the management team in the implementation of SHE policies, principles and directives.
- Ensure compliance with SHE Responsibilities Statement and promote a safe system of work and a strong safety culture in the workplace.
- Comply with all relevant safety, health and environment legislation. Provision of relevant site induction programs.
- Assist the Quarry Manager to manage the operation to ensure the agreed production targets, goals and objectives are achieved.
- Ensure efficient financial performance of the operation through:
- Effective R &M expenditure within budget constraints
- Minimal rework and waste.
- Maintaining cost models to optimise Drill & Blast and Load & Haul activity expenses
- Ensure that mobile plant condition is maintained to agreed standards and manage mobile plant utilisation & efficiency to agreed productivity targets ensuring problem areas are identified and corrected.
- Ensure site compliance with relevant environmental legislation, development consent, environmental licence conditions and Company policies.
- Ensure Holcim environmental standards, guidelines, systems, initiatives and goals are effectively implemented, including compliance with site environmental permits.
- Assist in the implementation of environmental plans.
- Ensure all employees are adequately inducted and trained.
- Maintain training & competency plans for all employees in the pit team
About you:
- Diploma in Extractive Industries (desired)
- Cert IV in Surface Extraction Operations
- Ideally you will have 5 years in a Quarry role including experience in Drill and Blast & experience in supervising a workforce
- Intermediate skills in Google Suite and general computer/tablet operations
