We’re seeking a male Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander consultant to join our multidisciplinary clinical team in Western Australia, based in Perth, as a Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Practitioner. This is an identified position and is only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander male candidates*.

What You’ll Be Doing
You'll combine direct client work, community engagement, cultural consultation and capacity building and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Your work will include:
- Conducting holistic assessments exploring wellbeing, strengths, culture, identity and social context
- Supporting clients through culturally safe yarning, wellbeing planning and therapeutic conversations
- Working collaboratively with families, Elders, communities and multidisciplinary teams
- Advocating for clients across health, disability, education, justice and community services
- Providing cultural guidance and delivering education, consultation and capacity building for colleagues and partner organisations
- Contributing to multidisciplinary assessments, projects and community co-design initiatives
- Identifying and developing resources to assist in the appropriate cultural support of clients

Mandatory Requirements
- Due to cultural protocols, we are seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander male to work alongside our team and directly with the clients one-on-one, providing social and emotional wellbeing and behaviour support to adult men, young men and children across all of our service areas*
- Qualification (Certificate I or higher) in Indigenous Health or in a field relevant to human services
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening, or the ability to obtain these prior to commencement
- SAL Consulting considers that being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander male is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under sub-s 35(1)(b)(ii) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996.

- Demonstrated understanding of health and social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Ability to effectively engage and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across language groups and communities
- Ability to communicate an understanding of clients' needs and goals, leveraging both lived and learned experience
Highly Regarded
- Experience working in disability, mental health, child protection, justice or community services
- Experience working collaboratively with families, support networks and multidisciplinary teams to achieve outcomes in everyday environments
- Experience in developing resources to assist in the appropriate cultural support
