Band 5 - $82,985.00 to $95,307.00 plus super

Help promote community safety, amenity and fair outcomes in our Prosecutions and Review team by managing infringement reviews and prosecution matters across a diverse range of compliance issues.

About the role:

As a Prosecutions and Review Administration Officer, you'll play an important role in supporting Darebin's compliance and enforcement functions through high-quality case management, decision-making and stakeholder coordination. Working within the City Safety & Compliance department, you'll assess infringement appeals, prepare prosecution matters and provide advice on evidentiary and procedural requirements. The role supports a broad range of compliance areas, which may include matters relating to litter, dog attacks, parking, building and planning, giving you exposure to varied and meaningful work that contributes to community safety, amenity and fair regulatory outcomes. You'll work closely with authorised officers, legal representatives and external stakeholders to progress matters efficiently, uphold procedural fairness and help strengthen compliance practices across Council.

You will:

Manage a portfolio of infringement review applications and prosecution matters, ensuring decisions and case progression are fair, timely and compliant with legislative requirements.
Assess complex internal review applications by considering legal grounds, evidence and mitigating circumstances to deliver clear, consistent and defensible outcomes.
Prepare and coordinate prosecution documentation, including briefs of evidence and court materials, to support efficient progression of matters through legal processes.
Liaise with internal stakeholders, authorised officers, legal representatives, Fines Victoria and the Magistrates' Court to support compliant and effective case management.
Monitor trends, maintain accurate records and contribute to improvements in enforcement, prosecution and administrative processes, systems and templates.

About you:

You're a thoughtful and highly organised professional with experience in compliance, legal administration, prosecutions or infringement management. You bring strong judgement, attention to detail and the ability to interpret legislation and evidence to support fair and well-reasoned decisions. You communicate clearly, manage sensitive matters professionally and build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will also bring:

Demonstrated experience in infringement management or review, compliance, legal administration or prosecutions, preferably within a local government or regulatory environment.

Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and processes, including the Infringements Act 2006, Magistrates' Court processes and associated compliance frameworks.

Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess evidence and prepare clear, accurate and legally sound written outcomes.

Experience in preparing prosecution or legislatively based documentation and coordinating matters involving internal stakeholders, legal representatives and court processes.

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high-quality customer service and professional relationships.
