BAKER/PASTRY CHEF WANTED – Escape to the Hinterland & Bake in a Slice of History

Are you a passionate Baker/Pastry Chef dreaming of a slower pace, clean mountain air, and a return to meaningful craft? This is your invitation to create exquisite pastries in the Old Bakery of Tyalgum – a beautifully restored, wood-fired bakehouse nestled in the lush Northern Rivers hinterland of NSW.

ABOUT US:

Our bakery is part of a thriving, artisanal village ecosystem in Tyalgum – a destination renowned for its charm, community, and commitment to slow living. We celebrate traditional methods, local ingredients, and creative flair. Set against the backdrop of Mount Warning and rolling green hills, Tyalgum offers a unique tree-change lifestyle for those ready to swap traffic and burnout for fresh air, connection, and creativity.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re seeking a skilled and inspired Baker/Pastry Chef to lead our pastry program – from sourdough artisanal breads to croissants, tarts, galettes and eclairs, to seasonal, rustic creations that bring joy to locals and visitors alike.

You’ll have the rare opportunity to work in a heritage bakery using traditional techniques, including wood-fired baking (training provided if needed).
