The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical claims management advice and collaborative consultation, including expertise in systems as well as Technical Specialist related tasks such as Liability determinations, workers compensation process and procedures, coaching, support and development of business specialists in the aligned business area, to ensure prompt and compliant claims management in line with regulatory obligations. You will be the first point of escalation for technical related queries for the aligned government services business unit/s.
About the role
- Partner with Specialists, Managers, and business units to ensure effective claims management, advocate alternate strategies for timely claim resolution, and represent the team at regulatory and stakeholder meetings on technical matters.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for technical matters, providing advice and support to claims staff and employers to ensure accurate interpretation of legislation and sound decision-making.
- Develop and coach Technical Specialists and support staff across the aligned business area to strengthen technical knowledge, skills, and overall team capability.
- Drive improvements across business systems (Guidewire and/or JADE platforms), providing feedback, insights, and solutions to enhance processes, remediation activities, and user experience.
- Contribute to achieving team financial targets and KPIs in line with relevant deeds, service contracts, and incentive schemes, while supporting managers in identifying and implementing value-adding initiatives.
About you
- Have a minimum of 5 years' experience within NSW workers compensation in a technical specialist or technical manager role
- Experience in both the TMF (treasury managed fund) and NI (Nominal Insurer) space is desirable
- Previous experience communicating and liaising with external regulators, customers and stakeholders on technical related queries and the application of legislation and process and procedures

- Able to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands, displaying leadership through role modelling and encouraging these behaviours in others.
- Able to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for decision making, providing coaching and support to facilitate the development of these skills in others.
