About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a Casual Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team in a modern rural hospital, providing care across both the inpatient ward and Emergency Department. With 8 inpatient beds and a busy Emergency Department, our newly designed hospital offers contemporary facilities and access to a range of innovative health services, including 24-hour Virtual Medical Officer support, Mental Health Access services and statewide retrieval services. This unique combination of technology and clinical expertise ensures you are well supported to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. As a casual Registered Nurse, you'll enjoy the flexibility of casual employment while gaining exposure to a diverse range of clinical presentations in a supportive rural environment. You'll be welcomed into a collaborative team where your contribution is valued and your professional development is encouraged. From commencement, you'll receive ongoing support from our Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and Nurse Manager, who are committed to helping you build your skills, maintain competencies and succeed in your role. Mandatory education, clinical assessments and competency development will be supported throughout your employment.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Casual Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, evidence-based and person-centred care across both the Emergency Department and inpatient ward.
In this role, you will:

Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients across emergency and inpatient settings.

Coordinate and oversee the hospital after hours, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.

Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.

Utilise the Australasian Triage Scale and emergency care protocols to assess and prioritise patients.

Escalate care appropriately and collaborate with the Virtual Medical Officer, retrieval services and Mental Health Access teams when required.

Perform advanced clinical skills including venepuncture, cannulation and emergency interventions within your scope of practice.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with NSW Health policies and procedures.

Report directly to the Nurse Manager during business hours and the Executive on Call after hours.
About you
We're looking for a confident and adaptable Registered Nurse who enjoys the diversity of rural nursing and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Recent experience in both Emergency Department and acute ward nursing.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience using the Australasian Triage Scale.

Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) qualifications.

Competency in venepuncture and cannulation.

Strong clinical assessment, communication and decision-making skills.

The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with the multidisciplinary team.

A commitment to working within your scope of practice and complying with NSW Health policies, procedures and the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
