Join our team as a Dispute Resolution Officer

Redland City Council is seeking a Dispute Resolution Officer to join our Governance and Legal Services team. This role plays a key part in supporting good governance, accountability, and customer-focused outcomes through the management of administrative review complaints, dispute resolution matters, stakeholder enquiries, and legislative compliance activities.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will investigate complex matters, analyse information, provide specialist advice, and coordinate responses in accordance with relevant legislation and Council frameworks. Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage administrative review complaints and dispute resolution matters in accordance with Council's Complaints Management Framework and legislative requirements.
- Research, interpret and apply legislation, policies, guidelines and governance frameworks to support informed decision-making.
- Investigate complex matters, gather and analyse information, and prepare well-reasoned recommendations and correspondence.
- Coordinate responses relating to Council administrative actions and access to information matters.
- Liaise with external agencies including the Office of the Information Commissioner, Queensland Ombudsman, Office of the Independent Assessor and other regulatory bodies.
- Provide advice and guidance to managers and stakeholders on complaint management and administrative review processes.
- Support governance and legal services projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote awareness and understanding of legislative obligations across Council.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, guidelines and frameworks, ideally within a Local Government, governance, compliance, legal or regulatory environment.
- Proven ability to research, analyse and investigate matters within a legislative and policy context.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet legislative timeframes.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to review, interpret and manage large volumes of information.
- Well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and professional correspondence and reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and corporate databases, and extracting and analysing information for reporting purposes.
