The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Structural Inspection Technician to join our dedicated Structural Inspection team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

This role works Monday – Friday and partners closely with our Structural Inspection Engineer. You'll play a key role in helping maintain the safety and integrity of plant structures across our operations. This is a hands-on role combining field inspections, reporting and coordination activities, providing an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical trade or maintenance background who enjoys being out on site and working as part of a small, specialised team.

What Will You Do?

Being a valued member of our team, this opportunity will see you:

conduct visual inspections of plant structures across various operational areas
identify and document structural defects, deterioration and potential risks
prepare inspection reports and provide observations to support engineering recommendations
coordinate inspection activities with site stakeholders and assist with scheduling upcoming work
work safely in a range of environments, including outdoor areas, confined spaces, elevated work platforms and working at heights
contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection processes and site safety outcomes
build effective working relationships with internal customers and operational teams.

You are a safety-focused individual who enjoys practical, site-based work and takes pride in producing accurate, detailed reports. You will also bring:

a trade, maintenance, contractor or industrial operations background
strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and document issues clearly
confidence working in industrial environments, including at heights and in confined spaces
good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate activities and manage competing priorities
a customer-focused approach and the ability to work effectively within a small team
strong communication skills and a willingness to learn new technical skills
a proactive approach to safety, hazard identification and risk management
