Fabrication Apprenticeship (Boilermaker/Welder) - Osborne

About the OPPORTUNITY

We have new opportunities for Fabrication Apprentices to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard - one of the most digitally advanced naval shipyards in the world.

We are now accepting applications for our 2027 apprenticeship program commencing in February. It's an exciting time to join us and a great place to start a career in shipbuilding.

As a Fabrication Apprentice you will gain practical experience while rotating through the shipyard, and completing a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity which will develop your skills to become an extremely versatile fabrication tradesperson. Working in a state-of-the-art workshop or on the ship with a great team, your responsibilities will include:

Fabricating a variety of materials and learning different types of welding processes
Construction and development of all structural assemblies (hull to final fit out)
Develop knowledge of fabrication codes and standards
Applying health and safety processes in the workplace
Contributing to improving business culture with regards to people, process and systems

An ability to work individually and collaborate with others as a part of a team
Effective communication, both written and verbal

Initiative to problem solve and proactively in engage in the tasks of your role
A demonstrated interest and understanding of becoming an apprentice in a highly sought-after trade
