About the Role:
Children across Adelaide's northern communities deserve early, culturally safe support — and the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is looking for a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a genuine commitment to Aboriginal health equity to help deliver it. This is a full-time, short-term contract role through to 1 October 2027, embedded within the Modern Primary Health Care team.
What You'll Be Doing
Working within a multidisciplinary primary health care setting, you will provide evidence-informed occupational therapy assessment and intervention for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families across the northern Adelaide metro region.
Deliver culturally responsive paediatric OT assessments, goal-setting, and therapeutic intervention
Collaborate with Aboriginal health practitioners, allied health colleagues, and community partners to coordinate child-centred care
Contribute to service planning and improvement within the NALHN Modern Primary Health Care framework
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with SA Health standards and relevant legislative requirements
What You Bring
Degree in Occupational Therapy and current AHPRA registration
Demonstrated experience in paediatric OT practice, including developmental and functional assessment
Understanding of the health and social determinants affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families
Ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with Aboriginal communities in a primary health care context
Strong communication and interpersonal skills suited to cross-cultural, team-based environments
Current SA driver's licence, as community-based travel may be required
To be eligible for this position, you must have an Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
