About the Role
Country Capital Motel is seeking an experienced and motivated Motel Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and overall performance of our motel in Tamworth, NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing motel operations, guest services, staff performance, housekeeping, property maintenance, purchasing, financial administration and compliance requirements. The role requires a hands-on management approach together with strong leadership, organisational and customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
The Motel Manager will be responsible for:
- Directing and overseeing motel reservations, reception, guest services and housekeeping operations to ensure efficient and consistent day-to-day service delivery.
- Supervising and coordinating motel staff, including allocating duties, monitoring performance, providing training and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Managing guest enquiries, requests and complaints and taking appropriate action to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Monitoring guest feedback, reviewing service standards and implementing improvements to enhance the overall guest experience. Supervising motel security arrangements and coordinating the maintenance and presentation of guest rooms, common areas, gardens, grounds and other property facilities.
- Monitoring room availability, occupancy levels and operational requirements and coordinating staffing and other resources to support efficient motel performance.
- Coordinating check-in, check-out and other front office procedures and ensuring reservations and guest information are accurately maintained.
- Overseeing housekeeping operations, including room cleaning standards, linen requirements, room inspections and the timely preparation of rooms for guests.
- Coordinating maintenance and repair requirements with contractors and service providers and ensuring property issues are identified and addressed promptly.
- Overseeing purchasing activities, supplier relationships, stock requirements and expenditure to support efficient motel operations.
- Assisting with and overseeing accounting and financial administration, including monitoring revenue, expenses, budgets, invoices and operational costs.
- Monitoring operational performance, occupancy, revenue and expenditure and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Ensuring appropriate occupational health and safety practices are maintained throughout the motel and that workplace procedures are followed.
- Maintaining operational records and preparing reports relating to motel activities, staffing, guest services, maintenance, purchasing and financial performance.
- Developing and implementing operational procedures, policies and service standards to improve efficiency, service quality and guest satisfaction.
- Providing guests with information about local attractions, tourism services and transportation options and assisting with tour or transportation arrangements where required.
- Ensuring the motel is maintained in a clean, safe, secure and presentable condition and that guest facilities are maintained to appropriate standards.
- Ensuring the motel operates in accordance with company policies, relevant legislation, workplace requirements and applicable industry standards.
- Taking a hands-on management approach to resolving operational issues and making day-to-day decisions to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the motel.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism Management, Business Management or a closely related discipline.
- At least one year of highly relevant professional experience in hotel, motel, accommodation or hospitality management, with demonstrated responsibility for motel/hotel operations, staff supervision and guest services.
- Strong knowledge of motel/hospitality operations, including front office, reservations and housekeeping.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage staff and coordinate multiple operational functions.
- Strong customer service, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with purchasing, budgeting, financial administration and operational reporting.
- Ability to manage maintenance, security and property-related matters.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and relevant hospitality regulations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
- Availability to work a flexible management roster, including weekends and public holidays where required.
- Fluent Mandarin language skills are preferred, particularly for communicating with Mandarin-speaking guests and business stakeholders.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
