We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technologist to join our technical services team and support the ongoing engineering, calibration, maintenance and optimisation of the specialised instrumentation technologies represented and supported by Pryde Measurement.
The Role
The Engineering Technologist is responsible for applying engineering principles and technical analysis to the testing, calibration, commissioning, maintenance and optimisation of advanced measurement and analytical instrumentation.
The role requires a high level of technical competency in process instrumentation, gas analysis systems, calibration methodologies and industrial measurement technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, manufacturers and internal technical teams to ensure instrumentation systems are operating accurately, reliably and in accordance with industry, regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse, evaluate and troubleshoot complex measurement, analytical and control instrumentation systems.
- Execute complex system commissioning, technical diagnostics, advanced calibration, and engineering modifications on industrial instrumentation equipment.
- Develop and apply engineering test methodologies, calibration procedures and system verification processes.
- Assess instrumentation performance and identify opportunities for optimisation, improvement and compliance.
- Provide high-level technical engineering support, fault diagnosis, and technical consultations to industrial clients and internal service teams.
- Prepare calibration certificates, technical reports, engineering documentation and compliance records.
- Support the implementation and integration of new measurement technologies and instrumentation platforms.
- Conduct specialized on-site commissioning, system integration, and field engineering technical support throughout Australia.
- Liaise with international manufacturers regarding technical issues, product support and engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, quality systems and workplace safety requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- At least one year of work experience in a similar role, including but not limited to in the engineering support, calibration, commissioning, maintenance and repair of industrial instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of instrumentation principles including pressure, temperature, flow, level, gas analysis and process measurement technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse instrument performance data and apply engineering solutions to technical problems.
- Experience interpreting technical specifications, engineering documentation and calibration procedures.
- Strong customer-facing technical communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical projects and service activities.
Highly Desirable Experience
Applicants will be highly regarded if they possess demonstrated experience with:
- Servomex gas analysers and associated analytical technologies.
- Dansensor gas analysis and modified atmosphere packaging instrumentation.
- Calibration and maintenance of oxygen, carbon dioxide, moisture and trace gas measurement systems.
- Industrial analytical instrumentation supported by Pryde Measurement.
- Process control, environmental monitoring and laboratory instrumentation.
- Technical support and servicing of specialised imported instrumentation products.
- Development and implementation of calibration methodologies and compliance testing procedures.
