Centralian Cleaning Services is an established and growing Alice Springs business delivering commercial cleaning services across a diverse portfolio of workplaces, schools, government facilities, accommodation, retail sites and community organisations.
We employ a multicultural team of approximately 20 staff and have built a strong reputation for reliable service, responsive client support and practical local knowledge.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of our commercial cleaning services across multiple client sites.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a senior, hands-on management position responsible for workforce coordination, client service, quality assurance, workplace health and safety, operational systems and contract performance.
The Operations Manager will lead our operational team and ensure that services are delivered safely, efficiently, consistently and in accordance with client requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, manage and coordinate daily cleaning operations across multiple commercial sites.
- Lead supervisors and cleaning staff, including workforce planning, staff allocation, rostering and operational support.
- Monitor staffing levels and coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management.
- Conduct site inspections and implement quality-control processes to maintain required cleaning standards.
- Establish and maintain cleaning procedures, site instructions, schedules and service-delivery systems.
- Manage new-site mobilisations and ensure client specifications are translated into practical operating plans.
- Develop positive working relationships with clients and respond promptly to service requests, concerns and changing operational requirements.
- Monitor contract performance, labour utilisation, productivity and operational costs.
- Oversee the appropriate use, maintenance and availability of cleaning equipment, vehicles, chemicals, consumables and other resources.
- Implement and monitor workplace health and safety requirements across client sites and the company’s operational base.
- Investigate incidents, service failures and complaints, identify underlying causes and implement corrective action.
- Support supervisors and employees working across different locations, schedules and levels of experience.
- Provide regular operational reporting and recommendations to the Managing Director.
About you
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- substantial experience managing service-based operations, preferably within commercial cleaning, facilities services, property services or another multi-site workforce environment;
- demonstrated experience leading operational employees and supervisors;
- strong workforce-planning, scheduling and resource-allocation capabilities;
- experience managing client relationships, service standards and contract performance;
- sound knowledge of workplace health and safety, incident management and operational risk;
- the ability to analyse operational problems and implement practical, sustainable solutions;
- strong organisational, communication and people-management skills;
- confidence working with employees from diverse cultural and language backgrounds;
- a relevant Diploma-level or higher qualification, or substantial relevant management experience demonstrating an equivalent level of skill;
- strong computer skills and experience using rostering, workforce-management and business systems;
- a current driver licence and the ability to travel between client sites in Alice Springs; and
- the flexibility to respond to operational requirements outside standard office hours when reasonably required.
Experience within the commercial cleaning industry will be highly regarded but is not essential where the applicant can demonstrate strong transferable experience managing a multi-site service workforce.
