About the Role:

This is a part time fixed term position at 30.4 hours per fortnight until 24/01/2027 within the Occupational Therapy department – Neurodevelopmental, Ambulatory and Medical Specialities Stream. Working at the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) provides a unique and exciting opportunity to work alongside children and their families during pivotal life phases. You will be responsible for providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention services to inpatient and/or outpatient infants, children and adolescents, to support child development and maximise participation in daily activities and quality of life. Areas of inpatient service delivery may include: gastroenterology, cardiology, oncology, respiratory and general medicine. Outpatient Services may include specialist assessment clinics (autism and developmental) and/or specialist tertiary clinics for management of neurological/neurodevelopmental conditions. The role may also deliver specialist clinical care to children and families across the Hospital in the Home (HITH), Post-Acute Care (PAC) and/or Complex Care service programs.

Classification for this position will range from VF6-VF9 Grade 2 Year 1 to Grade 2 Year 4 (FTE base salary $90,235.60 - $103,724.40 per annum, plus superannuation).

What You'll Achieve:

In collaboration with patients and their families and the multidisciplinary team, provide assessment of function and developmental needs and interventions that facilitate care plans and appropriate discharge
Evidence based and outcome focussed intervention that make an impact on meaningful outcomes for infants, children and adolescents during their individual healthcare journey

Your Skills and Experience:

Be an established paediatric OT who can apply clinical knowledge and skills within a multidisciplinary team environment
Experience working within acute care or hospital environment
Experience working with infants and children with disabilities
Have confidence in educating patients/parents/discipline staff/ multidisciplinary team and members of the wider community to minimise risk and promote successful outcomes for patient care
Be committed to evidence-based practice, and integration into everyday clinical care

About the Department:

The Occupational Therapy department is within the Division of Allied and Digital Health. We provide inpatient and outpatient services for infants, children, adolescents with a wide range of medical conditions. Our team works closely with families, carers, community services and other health care professionals to ensure the best occupational therapy outcomes for our patients.

Recognised graduate-entry qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)
Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
Valid Working with Children Check
Compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure
