About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Midwife Grade 2 to join our Midwifery team at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. This role will suit someone who is committed to providing evidence-based, woman-centred midwifery care, demonstrates strong clinical judgement and collaboration, and contributes to safe, high-quality outcomes for women, babies and families through clinical leadership, advocacy and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Provide high-quality, evidence-based, woman-centred midwifery care across the pregnancy, birth and postnatal continuum, recognising and respecting the dignity, culture, values and individual needs of women and their families.
Independently assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document care, monitor for clinical deterioration, initiate appropriate responses, and escalate concerns to ensure the safety and wellbeing of women and babies.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, consumers, families and external service providers to support safe care transitions, informed decision-making, discharge planning and referral pathways.
Contribute to a culture of professional excellence through clinical leadership, mentoring, preceptorship, ongoing professional development, quality improvement activities, research participation and adherence to clinical practice guidelines.
Promote safe, high-quality care by maintaining professional standards, managing clinical risk, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, complying with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, and acting as an advocate for women, families and the midwifery profession.
About You
You are a compassionate, skilled and adaptable Registered Midwife who is committed to providing safe, evidence-based, woman-centred care. You demonstrate strong clinical judgement, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement and professional excellence.
You will bring:
Current registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Proven ability to provide comprehensive midwifery care across the maternity continuum, including assessment, care planning, CTG monitoring, neonatal resuscitation and emergency response within scope of practice.
Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, resolve conflict, influence outcomes and establish positive partnerships with women, families and multidisciplinary teams.
A demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement, person-centred care, safety, professional accountability and respect for diversity and inclusion.
The flexibility to work across a rotating roster and maintain all required employment screening, immunisation, mandatory education and professional development requirements.
