The student wellbeing and first aid Education Support Role provides comprehensive first aid, student support and administrative services across the school. The role is responsible for supporting student health and wellbeing, managing first aid processes, maintaining accurate health and medical records, and supporting enrolment processes to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
The position supports the day-to-day operation of the school by providing timely assistance to students, families and staff, managing confidential information, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
Working collaboratively with school leadership, teaching staff, education support staff, students and families, the First Aid and Enrolment Officer contribute to a safe, supportive and welcoming school environment while delivering high-quality administrative and wellbeing support.
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.
This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
- Liaise with staff, families and other professionals to provide a quality nursing service to enhance the quality of life for students with special needs
- Provide primary nursing care to sick and injured students and staff and carry out regular first aid procedures as required.
- Work with and provide support for the Wellbeing Leader and front office in support of funding and organisation of allied health specialist in school.
- Advise teachers and parents of any health intervention which may be required following consultation with students.
- Provide instruction and advice to staff regarding the administration of medication.
- Order medical supplies and keep an inventory of equipment and first aid supplies.
- Maintain up to date notices, concerning DET health requirements e.g. Notifiable diseases, exclusions etc.
- Report to relevant Teachers, Principal Class and Wellbeing Staff, any matters of concern regarding the wellbeing of students.
- Provide assistance to staff with the ongoing management of health-related issues of students.
- Provide twice yearly anaphylaxis updates with staff using a PowerPoint presentation according to the DE policy.
- Maintaining up to date Student Medical Alerts.
- Maintaining and organising First Aid Room as a workspace.
- Maintain up to date medical records and distribute to relevant staff
- Contribute to the development of school policies where applicable.
- Maintain up to date student files, accident/incident records and case notes.
- Report any OH&S hazards through school processes
- Attendance at In School PD out of school hours (e.g. Anaphylaxis Training)
- Attendance at risk assessments
- Develop Student Health Support plans in collaboration with parents and teachers.
Ensure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.
Supporting the Wellbeing Leader for funding applications and supporting students with special needs.

Administering medications and supporting students with health care needs in line with approved processes and documentation.
Monitoring and maintaining first aid supplies, equipment and resources, including stock control and ordering as required.
Supporting families throughout the enrolment process in particular medical needs and developing health needs plans and communicating these with staff.
Maintaining student information systems and ensuring records are accurate, up to date and managed confidentially.
Assisting with student attendance processes, follow-up of unexplained absences and communication with families where required.
Providing administrative support for student wellbeing programs, excursions, camps and school events.
Liaising with school leadership, teachers, education support staff, families and external health professionals to support student needs.
Maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgement when handling sensitive student and family information.
Contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive school environment through professional and respectful interactions with the school community.
Undertaking general administrative duties to support the effective operation of the school office.

Lalor North Primary School was established in 1971. The school is situated in the North Western Victoria Region and is a member of the Whittlesea Network of schools. The school population is made up of 350 students from diverse multicultural backgrounds which we embrace and celebrate. The Greek Bilingual Program was established in 1977 and the Macedonian Program was established in 1984.
Lalor North Primary School is especially unique as students are enrolled in one of the three curriculum programs: The Standard Curriculum Program, The Greek Bilingual Curriculum Program or The Macedonian Bilingual Curriculum Program. Lalor North Primary School leads Victoria in Bilingual Education. Our Greek Bilingual Program has been in operation since 1977 and is the oldest continually operating bilingual program in Victoria. Our Macedonian Bilingual Program began operation in 1984 and continues to operate at its highest ever enrolment. Both of our bilingual programs enjoy tremendous support from local communities as well as being internationally recognised by the governments of Greece and Northern Macedonia respectively.
Languages are a strength for every student at Lalor North Primary School. We have approximately 65% of our students with a language background other than English and there is a sense of pride in the linguistic, cultural and social diversity of our community. The learning programs are carefully built on this rich heritage and identity.
