Full Job Description

GPO Bar and Café is your friendly neighbourhood café where you can make yourself at home. We serve modern Asian- Australian Cuisine and are currently looking for a qualified and experienced chef to join our team in delivering high quality food and service to the locals and visitors of Toowoomba. With your culinary and managerial experience, you will be expected to lead our team in creating menus and specials that will bring pleasure to all our guests and patrons. You will be an advocate of utilizing local produce and partnering with other local businesses while upholding the quality of the food that we serve.

As a full-time chef, your job tasks will include:

- Cook and prepare dishes according to customer orders and preferences

- Lead, mentor, and manage the culinary team

- Develop and plan menus and daily specials

- Manage food costs and inventory

- Foster good relationships with suppliers, co-workers and other stakeholders of the business

- Create prep lists for the kitchen crew

- Maintain standards for food storage, quality, and appearance

- Ensure compliance with local and national standards for equipment, workplace and food safety

- Manage staff roster and assist in human resources processes as needed

Experience and qualifications needed:

- Prior experience of 2years or more in a fast-paced restaurant or similar

- Proven experience and knowledge in leading a team and training them

- Knowledgeable in Food Health Safety and Hygiene

- Knowledge in basic cooking techniques with the ability to use resources available

- Experience in using and maintaining kitchen tools and appliances such as oven, deep-fryer and flat grill

- Ability to work under pressure and maintain an enthusiastic attitude

- Collaborate with kitchen team and front of house

- Attention to detail and focus on quality and consistency

- Diploma in Commercial Cookery is preferred

Pay: From $76,515.00 per year
