Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) currently has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and dedicated Research Ethics, Governance and Projects Manager to join our Research and Clinical Trials team. This position will be on a part time, fixed term basis, for a period of 12 months with the opportunity to move to ongoing.
The Research Ethics, Governance and Projects Manager provides strategic and operational leadership of the Research Unit to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient research across the organisation. The role leads research staff, manages ethics and governance processes, fosters collaborative partnerships and drives a culture of research excellence and continuous improvement.
The role will be responsible for:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Research Unit, providing strategic and operational leadership to staff.
- Oversee research ethics and governance processes, ensuring timely, high-quality review of Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and research governance applications.
- Ensure compliance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2025), the Clinical Trials Governance Framework (NCTGF), and all relevant legislation, standards, and organisational policies.
- Support and grow the organisation's research portfolio by facilitating funded, multi-site, and collaborative research projects.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve research governance policies, procedures, and systems to support accreditation and best practice.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with researchers, universities, healthcare organisations, funding bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop research staff and support Higher Degree Research (HDR) students, fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Promote research capability, education, and professional development across the organisation, encouraging research participation, innovation, and the translation of research into improved patient care.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Demonstrated understanding of the research process and evidence of recent research experience or project engagement.
- Leadership and/or management experience.
- Experience in analysing data, writing reports and making recommendations.
- Experience in protocol development and project management through to publication.
- Strong organisational skills, including time management, task planning, and the ability to work independently, while contributing effectively to a team.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to build trust, secure buy-in, and foster meaningful partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience in grant based funding applications and project implementation.
