– Senior Resident Medical Officer –
Intensive Care Medicine & Anaesthetics
A position is currently available for a Senior Resident Medical Officer with six (6) months in Anaesthesia and six (6) months in Intensive Care Medicine experience at Dubbo Base Hospital.
The time in anaesthesia is not accredited for ANZCA training. However, if a successful applicant is later appointed to a position that allows accreditation on the ANZCA training program, it may be possible for the time in ICU to be credited towards ANZCA training through recognition of prior learning (RPL).
A successful candidate will usually be able to have the time in ICU credited towards CICM training time.
Dubbo Health Service is a major rural referral Hospital and part of the Western NSW Local Health District. It provides a range of acute inpatient and ambulatory care services including general medical and surgical, maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics, rehabilitation, critical care, mental health, renal dialysis, oncology, palliative care, hospital in the home and diagnostic services.
The Health Service also offers a wide range of primary and community health services including child and family health services, mental health services and antenatal and postnatal services.
Dubbo Health Service is undergone remarkable transformations under the Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment project. With Stages 1 and 2 ($91.3 million) complete, the final Stages 3 and 4 ($150 million) which include:
A new Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit
A new Medical Imaging Unit
A new Ambulatory Care Unit
A new Renal Dialysis Unit (originally part of 1 and 2 works)
A new Critical Care Floor comprising of:
A new front of house entry and drop off zone
A new Inpatient Unit
Expansion to Oncology
A new Front of House entry and drop off zone
Upgrade of Women’s and Children’s Community Health; and
Additional car parking on campus.

Essential Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
Completion of at least two (2) postgraduate years of medical practice.
Valid NSW Working with Children check.
Cleared National Police check.
Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.

Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
Demonstrated orientation to rural/regional practice through life experiences, medical school and/or residency, outlining evidence of commitment to the provision of health care in a rural setting, preferably with experience of rural or regional medicine.
