About the role

Leading independent girls’ school, Camberwell Girls Grammar, presents an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our team on a part-time (0.59 FTE) ongoing basis, commencing Term 4. This is an exciting opportunity to support high‑quality science learning in a forward‑thinking school committed to academic excellence, wellbeing and innovation.

Reporting into the Head of Science, the Laboratory Technician plays a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and safe science programs for students in Years 7–12. Working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment, you will:

Prepare and maintain lab equipment and supplies.
Assist teachers with experiments and trial experiments prior to class.
Ensure that the safety, cleanliness, compliance and risk assessment processes are followed for the laboratories.
Manage ordering, stock control and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Complete and update risk assessments and safety documentation to ensure compliance.

To be successful in this role…

You are a proactive, organised and detail‑driven professional who enjoys working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You communicate clearly, build strong working relationships, and take pride in producing high‑quality work that supports teachers and enhances the student learning experience.

You will have:

Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or higher
Experience in laboratory environments — school experience highly regarded
Strong understanding of laboratory processes, equipment and safety procedures
Chemistry experience preferred
Experience with Risk Assessment Software and Experience with PASCO Scientific Sensors (desirable)
Current Working with Children Check
Current Criminal Record Check
