Job Type: Perm PT reliever role (23.5 hours per week)

Schedule:

W1: Sat 8am - 12pm, Wed 6 hours, Thurs 8:30 - 12:00 and Fri 6 hours

W2: Mon, Tues, Weds 6 hours per day, Thurs 8:30-12:00 and Fri 6 hours

Shifts will vary between the hours of 7am to 6pm.

About The Role

As a Pathology Collector Reliever, you will collect blood and non-blood samples while delivering a positive, professional and caring experience to every patient. You will work across multiple collection centres and hospitals within a specific area, stepping into shifts to support both planned and unplanned absences.

Key responsibilities:

Collect blood and other samples with care and precision
Provide a welcoming, calm and professional experience for patients
Prepare and package specimens for transport in line with procedures
Maintain accurate records and follow required processes
Adapt quickly to different collection sites, teams and workflows to support smooth day-to-day operations

About You

We are ideally seeking an experienced Pathology Collector with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection. However, we also welcome applications from candidates with a healthcare background (e.g. aged care, disability support or nursing) who are looking to transition into pathology.

You will be confident stepping into new teams and environments, with the ability to quickly adapt to different processes and ways of working. You will bring a flexible and proactive approach, maintaining a reliable and professional standard across multiple locations.

Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in pathology collection is desirable but not essential
Certificate III in Pathology Collection is desirable but not essential
A background in healthcare (e.g. aged care, disability, nursing) or strong customer-facing experience

Requirements

A valid full driver’s licence and access to own reliable car
Ability and willingness to travel across multiple locations
A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement
Ability to provide evidence of immunisation requirements including Hepatitis B

Training

This role requires completion of a 6-week paid training program designed to build the essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed in collections. This requires a commitment to full-time hours for the first 2 weeks, followed by a minimum of 25 hours per week. Training is delivered internally as part of our Healius Academy onboarding program and may be accelerated based on previous experience.
