Indian Curry Paradise is an Indian restaurant located in Casuarina, Darwin, specialising in authentic Indian and Subcontinental cuisine. We are currently seeking an experienced Full-Time Cook to join our kitchen team on a long-term basis.
The successful applicant will be passionate about food, capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen and experienced in preparing traditional Indian and Subcontinental dishes.

Hours: 38 hours per week
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience
Superannuation: Plus 12% superannuation

Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant must have:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant practical experience working as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen position
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and cooking Indian and Subcontinental cuisine
- Experience preparing and cooking Tandoori dishes using a Tandoor
- Strong knowledge of traditional Indian cooking methods, ingredients and flavours
- Good knowledge of Halal food preparation and handling requirements
- Good understanding of food hygiene, food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
- Good communication, organisation and time-management skills
Desirable:
A Diploma of Hospitality or a related qualification will be highly regarded.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Cook will be responsible for:
- Examining ingredients and food products to ensure freshness, quality and suitability before preparation
- Preparing, cooking and seasoning a variety of traditional Indian and Subcontinental dishes in accordance with established recipes and restaurant standards
- Preparing and cooking Tandoori dishes using a Tandoor and operating other commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, grills and cooktops
- Regulating and monitoring the temperature of ovens, grills, Tandoors and other cooking equipment
- Preparing and cooking multiple customer orders efficiently during busy service periods
- Monitoring food quality, taste, consistency and presentation throughout the preparation and cooking process
- Portioning cooked food and arranging dishes on plates with appropriate sauces, gravies, garnishes and accompaniments
- Preparing food in accordance with Halal requirements and accommodating special dietary requirements where required
- Storing ingredients, prepared food and cooked food appropriately, including in temperature-controlled storage facilities
- Assisting with planning menus and determining food and ingredient requirements
- Ensuring dishes are prepared according to established recipes, portion sizes and quality standards
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of food preparation areas, cooking equipment, utensils and kitchen facilities
- Following safe food-handling procedures and complying with workplace health and safety requirements
- Working closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and timely meal service
- Assisting with the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff or apprentices where required
