ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Process Control Systems Engineer to join our growing Engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design, development, commissioning, and optimisation of automation and control systems across a diverse portfolio of water treatment and industrial process facilities.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will work closely with project delivery, operations, and engineering teams across Australia.
As a Process Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

Design, develop, program, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA control systems for water treatment and industrial process applications.

Convert P&IDs, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and process requirements into IO lists and control logic.

Develop, test and deploy automation software for new and existing assets.

Program and support Automation Direct, Allen Bradley, Siemens (desirable), and other industrial control platforms.

Lead and support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning and operational support activities.

Troubleshoot and optimise existing automation and control systems to improve plant performance and reliability.

Integrate control systems with instrumentation, telemetry and industrial communications networks.

Review electrical drawings, control panel designs and instrumentation layouts to ensure seamless system integration.

Support the development of engineering standards, automation templates, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams as required.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will be an experienced automation professional with a strong background in process control systems and a passion for delivering practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
You'll enjoy working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams while taking ownership of projects from design through to commissioning.
To be considered for this position you will also need:

Minimum 5 years' experience in process control, automation or control systems engineering.

Demonstrated experience programming and commissioning PLC and HMI systems.

Experience with Allen Bradley, Automation Direct, or equivalent PLC platforms.

Experience with Siemens PLCs will be highly regarded.

Strong understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols, including Modbus and Ethernet/IP.

Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and Functional Design Specifications (FDS).

Experience translating process design documentation into practical control system solutions.

Proven commissioning, fault-finding, and troubleshooting experience.

Electrical trade background or Electrical Engineering qualifications highly desirable.

Experience within water treatment, utilities, mining, or industrial process industries preferred.

Willingness to travel to project sites as required for commissioning and operational support.
