About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of HR services across the business.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role supports our manufacturing, construction, warehouse and office teams across the full employee lifecycle. The Human Resources Manager leads the delivery of Storco’s people function, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, Return to Work coordination, payroll oversight, HR administration, policy implementation and employment compliance. Working closely with leaders across the business, the role supports workforce capability, manages people-related risk, and ensures consistent, practical and compliant people practices.
This is a hands-on role suited to a practical HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, maintaining high standards of compliance, and supporting managers and employees across a broad range of people matters.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage recruitment activities across all areas of the business.
- Coordinate interviews, pre-employment checks, employment contracts and onboarding programs.
- Support managers in attracting and retaining high-quality employees.
- Maintain recruitment systems and candidate records.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Provide advice and support to managers and employees on people-related matters.
- Support performance management processes, development discussions and employee issues.
- Assist with workplace investigations and conflict resolution where required.
- Promote positive and productive working relationships across the business.
Return to Work & Workers Compensation
- Coordinate Storco’s Return to Work and injury management programs.
- Liaise with injured employees, managers, rehabilitation providers, insurers and medical practitioners.
- Develop and monitor Return to Work Plans.
- Maintain workers compensation records and reporting.
- Support safe, sustainable and compliant return-to-work outcomes.
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain employee records and HR systems.
- Prepare employment documentation, policy updates and employee correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, Modern Awards, company policies and employment contracts.
- Support audits and reporting requirements.
Payroll Oversight
- Coordinate payroll information and employee changes with the external payroll provider.
- Review payroll data and pay runs for accuracy prior to processing.
- Manage employee records relating to remuneration, leave and employment changes.
- Support managers and employees with payroll-related enquiries.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with payroll and employment obligations.
Learning & Development
- Coordinate training and development activities across the business.
- Assist managers in identifying employee development opportunities.
- Maintain training records and compliance requirements.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Support employee engagement initiatives and company events.
- Assist with communication and recognition programs.
- Promote Storco’s values and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
About You
You are an organised, approachable and practical HR professional who enjoys supporting people and solving problems.
You understand that successful HR is built on strong relationships, attention to detail, confidentiality, sound judgement and the consistent application of policies and processes.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and performance management.
- Experience managing Return to Work and workers compensation processes.
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and Modern Awards.
- Experience reviewing payroll and liaising with outsourced payroll providers.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong administration and organisational skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and HRIS systems (knowledge of Employment Hero is desirable).
Desirable
- Experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering or industrial environments.
- Experience supporting both blue-collar and white-collar workforces.
- Return to Work Coordinator training or equivalent experience.
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations or a related discipline; or
- Equivalent practical HR experience.
