The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Development Contributions Accountant, the position is to backfill for the Development Contributions Accountant for a 1-year fixed term. As a Development Contributions Accountant, the incumbent will be responsible for the financial management, accounting, reporting and reconciliation of Development Contributions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards, Council policies and contribution plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Development Contributions Accountant in developing and maintain financial modelling that forecasts development contributions required to meet Council’s long-term liabilities in providing infrastructure.
- Assist in the administration, preparation, management and review of the financial aspect of Council’s Development Contribution Plans including invoicing, receipting, reconciling and allocation of contributions.
- Assist in the delivery of infrastructure as identified in the Development Contribution Plans.
- Assist in the appropriate indexing of infrastructure items and revaluation of land required to accommodate that infrastructure.
- Prepare monthly reports in capital expenditure, progress reporting and explanations for variances.
- Assist in developing the annual and long-term budget.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related discipline and progress toward CPA or CA membership.
- A good understanding of accounting standards and regulations and its applications in the Local Government context.
- Excellent oral and written skills with attention to detail and demonstrated financial modelling skills in excel and developing complex reports.
- Ability to initiate and recommend improvements to existing procedures/techniques.
- Proven ability to effectively plan, organise and manage your own time to achieve targets within a set timetable, despite conflicting pressures.
