The Mission - Why This Program, Why Now?
You're joining at the defining moment of one of the most significant technology programmes Australia has ever undertaken. This programme will build and operate the dedicated cloud giving Australia's national security community and its allies the capability to see more, share more, innovate and act faster than ever before.
The architectural decisions being made now - how we structure networking, implement security controls, and automate at scale - will shape how Australia's national security community operates for the next decade. You won't be inheriting someone else's design choices. You'll be making them.
Your Opportunity
Imagine being the calm, decisive voice at the centre of one of the world's most advanced data centre operations. As a Facilities Operations Centre (FOC) leader, you'll stand at the nexus of physical infrastructure and digital innovation - the person who ensures Australia's most critical cloud infrastructure never misses a beat.
This isn't just a monitoring role. You're building something from the ground up - a newly developed 24x7 Facilities Operations Centre that will become the nerve centre for data centre operations across the region. Every Large Scale Event, every Critical Site Event, every electrical and mechanical system pulse flows through your team. You'll shape the protocols, grow the people, and set the standard for operational excellence that others will follow for years to come.
You'll work alongside a remarkable team of software engineers, hardware specialists, network architects, supply chain experts, and security professionals - all united by a shared obsession with reliability, safety, and customer experience. Here, bold ideas aren't just welcomed; they're expected. And you'll have the autonomy to own them from concept to completion.
If you've ever wanted to be at the heart of something that truly matters - where your decisions directly protect the infrastructure that powers innovation for millions - this is your moment.

Key job responsibilities
You'll be the operational heartbeat of our data centre infrastructure - the person who transforms real-time data into decisive action and ensures our customers experience nothing but seamless, uninterrupted service.
Your days will be defined by impact. You'll monitor the full spectrum of our facilities infrastructure platform, reading the signals that others miss and acting before issues become incidents. When the unexpected strikes - and in a 24x7 environment, it will - you'll be the point of contact that internal and external teams turn to for clarity, coordination, and calm leadership.
But you're not just responding to events; you're preventing them. You'll contribute to outage post-mortem analysis, turning every incident into an opportunity to strengthen our systems. You'll develop communication and escalation protocols that sharpen your team's response times and elevate performance across the board. You'll build and refine the tools that give your team a technological edge.
When emergency recovery efforts demand coordination across multiple teams and time zones, you'll be the person who brings order to complexity - ensuring the right people have the right information at the right time. Your meticulous attention to record-keeping will create the institutional knowledge that makes your team stronger with every passing day.
Perhaps most importantly, you'll grow this team to a standard of operational excellence that sets the benchmark for the industry. You'll mentor, develop, and inspire the next generation of operations professionals who will carry this mission forward.
This is shift work in a 24x7 environment, including weekends and holidays - because the infrastructure never sleeps, and neither does your commitment to protecting it.
