Tell me about this role:
As the Engineering Lead, you will provide expert engineering advice to senior Defence stakeholders and support the successful delivery of the Medium Ground Based Air Defence project. You will lead engineering management activities, coordinate technical governance processes, and ensure engineering outcomes are delivered in accordance with Defence policies, frameworks, and approved engineering management plans.
Working closely with project managers, commercial teams, capability managers, and industry partners, you will contribute to tender activities, contract delivery, engineering reviews, risk management, and stakeholder engagement while mentoring and supporting engineering staff across the program.

What will I be doing day to day?
- Provide expert engineering advice and support to senior Defence stakeholders
- Develop and maintain Engineering Management Plans and related project artefacts
- Support engineering planning, resource management, and reporting activities
- Participate in engineering workshops, working groups, and system reviews
- Identify and manage engineering risks, issues, and opportunities
- Coordinate engineering change and configuration management activities
- Prepare briefing packs, decision briefs, and supporting documentation
- Represent the project at stakeholder meetings, reviews, and test events
- Collaborate with project management, commercial, scheduling, and capability teams
- Mentor and coach Defence engineering personnel
- Monitor and report on engineering activities to support project governance requirements
What sort of skills do I need?
- Experience leading engineering activities within complex Defence, acquisition, or sustainment programs
- Strong understanding of engineering management and systems engineering principles
- Experience developing and maintaining Engineering Management Plans and project documentation
- Knowledge of Defence engineering governance and project delivery frameworks
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage engineering risks, issues, and change processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- Australian citizenship and NV1 security clearance
