Primary objective
Support the implementation, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to achieve optimal outcomes for students diagnosed
on the Autism Spectrum. Provide specialised administrative and program support to assist the effective operation of the CommAut
Program, working collaboratively with families, schools and allied health professionals to support the successful inclusion of
students in mainstream school environments.
Context statement
The CommAut (Communicate Autism) Program at Moulden Park School provides specialised support for primary-aged students
diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum who experience barriers to learning in mainstream classrooms. Working collaboratively with
families, schools and allied health professionals, the program supports students to develop the skills needed for successful
participation and inclusion in their school and community environments. The position contributes to the effective operation and
delivery of the program and works collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for students.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Contribute to the planning, implementation, monitoring and review of individualised support programs that support the
communication, social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs of students diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum across
school, home and community settings.
2. Support student wellbeing and safety through the administration of first aid and medication in accordance with Department
of Education policies, school procedures and individual health care plans.
3. Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, schools, allied health professionals and
colleagues, communicating effectively while maintaining confidentiality and respecting privacy requirements.
4. Coordinate and undertake administrative, program and student support activities, prioritising workloads and contributing to
the effective operation of the CommAut Program in accordance with Department of Education policies, procedures and
workplace standards.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience supporting children and young people diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, including the use of
evidence-informed strategies to enhance communication, self-regulation, social interaction, engagement and participation in
learning.
2. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive, professional
relationships with students, families, school staff, allied health professionals and other stakeholders.
3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse environment and develop respectful and collaborative
partnerships with students, families, colleagues and community members.
4. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, including the capacity to prioritise tasks,
maintain accurate records and contribute to positive outcomes for students.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualifications, training or experience in supporting students on the Autism Spectrum and/or students with
additional educational needs
2. Current NT Driver Licence or the ability to obtain one.
3. Current First Aid and CPR qualifications, or the ability to obtain them within an agreed timeframe.

A current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), or the ability to obtain one, is required prior to commencement.
The successful applicant must meet all mandatory screening and employment requirements of the Northern Territory Department
of Education prior to commencement.
