We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team and support the delivery of Data & Analytics Modernisation program using Microsoft Fabric. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines, Lakehouse and Warehouse solutions, and data integrations that enable trusted insights and better decision-making across the organisation.
Working with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams, you will transform complex data sources into reliable data products, support data platform modernisation, and ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are maintained. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative data transformation initiatives, Fabric, Azure, Spark, SQL, and modern data engineering practices.
Microsoft Fabric Data Engineering

Design, build and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory.

Build and manage Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse and OneLake data structures.
-
Develop ingestion, transformation and orchestration processes using notebooks, Spark and SQL.
-
Implement scalable, layered (medallion-style) data architectures - raw, curated and consumption-ready.

Monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot data processing issues.
Data Integration

Integrate data from clinical, workforce, payroll, finance, risk, quality and operational systems.

Build integrations using APIs, databases, files, Azure services and vendor-supported interfaces.

Work with application owners and vendors to understand source systems and constraints.

Implement incremental loads and change data capture where appropriate.
Data Modelling and Analytics Enablement

Develop dimensional, relational and analytical data models that support reporting.
-
Create curated datasets and data products for Power BI developers, analysts and business users.
-
Assist with the development and optimisation of Power BI semantic models.
-
Translate business reporting and analytics requirements into technical data solutions.
Data Migration and Modernisation
-
Assist with migrating existing data warehouse, ETL, SSRS and reporting solutions into Fabric.
- Analyse existing data flows, stored procedures and dependencies, and rebuild them using Fabric.

Support reconciliation and validation between legacy and replacement solutions.

Identify opportunities to simplify data flows and retire unsupported technologies.
Data Quality, Security and Governance

Implement automated data validation, reconciliation and quality monitoring controls.

Investigate data quality issues with system owners, data stewards and business teams.
-
Support master data management and golden-record principles.

Apply role-based access, least-privilege and security controls within Microsoft Fabric.

Support data classification, lineage and cataloguing using
-
Ensure sensitive, personal, health and financial information is handled per policy and regulation.
Development Practices and Operational Support

Use source control and CI/CD practices through Azure DevOps, Git or equivalent.

Maintain technical documentation - solution designs, source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries.

Monitor production data solutions, investigate incidents and perform root-cause analysis.

Support scheduled data processing and regulatory submission deadlines.
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and supporting data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.

Strong hands-on experience with SQL, relational databases, and cloud-based data platforms.
-
Experience developing data models, reporting solutions, and analytics platforms by integrating multiple data sources.
-
Experience implementing data reconciliation, validation frameworks, and data quality controls.
-
Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate or equivalent Azure Data Engineering certification (desirable).

Technical Skills and Capability

Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric - Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, notebooks and Spark - or strong equivalent Azure Data Factory / Azure SQL experience.

Experience developing Power BI datasets or semantic models.

Experience with Microsoft Purview, data lineage and cataloguing.

Experience with Python, SQL, DAX or Power Query.

Experience with APIs, JSON, REST services and secure file-transfer methods.
-
Experience with Git, Azure DevOps and CI/CD processes.
-
Experience in aged care, healthcare or another highly regulated environment (Desirable).
