The EQS Lead is critical for implementing and overseeing Environment, Quality, and Health & Safety standards across project sites in Australia, directly supporting the Grid Technologies Solutions business.
Given the focus on expert-level oversight and complex problem-solving, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in EHS within project-based environments, a strong command of Australian regulations, and relevant professional certifications. They will act as the subject matter expert, guiding teams and managing large-scale processes with limited supervision.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- 40% Operational Risk, Incident & Audit Management
- Lead the full incident management lifecycle, including classification, investigation, root cause analysis, and the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Facilitate and document comprehensive risk assessments for office and project activities, including Job Safety Analyses.
- Prepare, support, and monitor the implementation of site-specific Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) plans for projects.
- Coordinate and support internal and external EQS audits and inspections, ensuring all findings are addressed in a timely manner.
- 30% EQS Strategy & Management Systems
- Implement and drive continuous improvement of the Environment, Quality, and Health & Safety (EQS) Management System to align with corporate policies, Australian legislation, and client specifications.
- Manage and maintain the EQS components of the Regional Integrated Management System, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
- Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with all relevant changes in statutory and legislative requirements impacting EQS.
- Guide project execution teams on Quality Management processes and activities, acting as the Quality Manager in Projects (QMiP).
- 30% Leadership, Training & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert on all EQS matters, providing expert guidance and support to EHS, Quality, and project management teams.
- Develop, oversee, and document the EQS training and competence development plan for employees and contractors based on the established training matrix.
- Manage timely and accurate internal and external EQS reporting, including performance metrics and annual summaries.
- Act as the key liaison for internal and external stakeholders on EQS topics, effectively communicating requirements and performance throughout the project lifecycle.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of practical experience in an EHS role, with a strong preference for experience in the energy, transmission, or heavy construction sectors.
- Proven experience with Quality Management systems and processes is highly advantageous.
- Full working rights in Australia
- Driving License Class C (Car)
- Certified Safety Professional (or equivalent in-country professional certification)
- Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001)
- White Card
- Safety Certified Contractor
