In this role, you'll:
Provide senior engineering leadership and discipline authority for signalling engineering across major Sydney Metro projects.
You will ensure the integrity, safety and assurance of signalling systems across the full asset lifecycle, while working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver whole‑of‑system outcomes that support Sydney Metro’s objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide discipline leadership and lifecycle engineering assurance for signalling systems from concept through to commissioning and handover
- Lead and oversee signalling engineering reviews, technical submissions, RFIs, waivers, concessions and non‑conformance management
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, statutory requirements, safety integrity levels and signalling standards
- Act as a technical authority for system reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR and testing and commissioning readiness
- Manage complex interfaces across signalling, rolling stock, TMS/DTO, IRCS, power, track and other rail subsystems
- Support safety assurance activities including hazard identification, risk management, SSHA and system acceptance
- Provide high‑level technical advice to project leadership, governance forums and key stakeholders
- Contribute to the development of engineering capability, assurance frameworks and best‑practice systems engineering approaches

About you
You are an experienced signalling engineering professional with a strong background in metro rail systems and a passion for safety, assurance and technical excellence.
You bring credibility as a subject‑matter expert, are comfortable operating in complex, high‑risk environments, and are able to influence outcomes through clear communication and sound engineering judgment.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems or a related engineering discipline
- Extensive experience working with metro rail signalling and train control systems
- Demonstrated experience in engineering assurance, safety‑by‑design and systems engineering
- Strong knowledge of signalling standards, regulatory frameworks and rail safety requirements
- Proven ability to manage complex technical interfaces and stakeholder relationships
- Experience providing expert technical advice at senior levels within large infrastructure programs
- Sydney Metro Signalling & Train Control System competency (minimum Level L2) or the ability to obtain it
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing collaboratively within a matrixed organisation
