What to Expect
As the Senior EHS Bid & Contract Specialist – Commercial Energy, reporting to the Director of Energy, Charging and Distribution, EHS, you will primarily support the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market, with secondary support to Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and close partnership with peers in North America. You will work with Commercial Energy business development to accelerate sales bids, de-risk customer contracts, and strengthen Tesla’s contractor management framework, helping drive global harmonisation through shared tools, guidance, and consistent EHS standards.
Based in Sydney, New South Wales, you will independently lead bid and contract EHS workstreams while engaging customers, managers, and the wider EHS organisation. This is a commercial EHS business partner role focused on proposals, contract risk, enablement resources, and APAC contractor management—not day-to-day site EHS ownership, full-time auditing, or people management. Frequent regional travel and occasional international travel are required.
What You'll Do-
Partner with APAC business development to understand growth strategies, customer needs, and EHS risks, and contribute to proposals, presentations, and partnership strategies (with secondary EMEA support)
-
Develop and maintain self-help resources so business development and project managers can respond consistently and effectively to RFPs
-
Maintain deep knowledge of Tesla’s Commercial Energy products, services, and market positioning
-
Build and strengthen strategic relationships with APAC clients through clear, proactive communication
-
Support complex or one-off customer requests, including program modifications, information, and clarifications
-
Establish global EHS contract guidance (upstream and downstream), with an APAC lens, to reduce scope gaps/creep and onerous liabilities
-
Review contracts to confirm EHS requirements are understood, achievable, and regulatorily aligned
-
Support continual improvement of Tesla’s contractor management framework, with focus on APAC operations
What You'll Bring-
Bachelor’s degree in an EHS-related field, or equivalent experience
-
Minimum 5 years’ progressive EHS experience, preferably in APAC-based roles
-
Experience supporting bids, RFPs, or customer contract reviews from an EHS perspective
-
Experience in electric power generation, transmission, storage, or distribution, ideally in APAC markets
-
Strong knowledge of APAC EHS regulations and electrical safety standards (e.g. Australian WHS, AS/NZS)
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder skills across APAC cultures and time zones
-
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and capacity to prioritise in a fast-paced global environment
Nice to have:
-
Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NEC
-
Familiarity with EHS frameworks in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, and/or EMEA
-
Experience building bid playbooks, contract guidance, or other commercial enablement tools
-
Experience contributing to contractor management frameworks in energy or infrastructure projects
