About the Role
The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining secure ICT infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions across the organisation. The role will ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of business systems while supporting compliance with Australian privacy and cybersecurity standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and implement secure system architecture for internally developed applications, including client relationship management and learning management platforms.
· Integrate security-by-design principles into system development and ICT infrastructure planning.
· Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and threat-modelling exercises to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats.
· Develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies and technical security controls.
· Plan, design and oversee the implementation of secure software and infrastructure systems.
· Ensure applications and ICT environments follow secure development lifecycle practices and relevant cybersecurity standards.
· Develop and maintain security controls for APIs and system integrations, including authentication, encryption and secure data transmission.
· Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and security code reviews across applications, networks and infrastructure
· Implement remediation measures to address identified vulnerabilities and strengthen cybersecurity controls.
· Implement and manage security monitoring systems, including log analysis, intrusion detection and anomaly-detection tools.
· Identify potential cybersecurity threats and respond proactively to security incidents.
· Establish and maintain access controls, encryption protocols and data-protection measures.
· Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards and operational procedures.
· Support compliance with applicable privacy, cybersecurity and organisational governance requirements.
· Work with internal teams, management and external vendors to integrate cybersecurity controls into business systems and technology projects.
· Provide cybersecurity advice, awareness training and technical guidance to staff.
· Monitor cybersecurity performance, review emerging threats and continually improve the organisation's security controls and practices.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- At least one year of relevant professional experience as a Cyber Security Engineer or in a closely related cybersecurity role.
- Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise security technologies and cybersecurity controls.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security, Microsoft Azure, network security, cloud security and endpoint protection.
- Experience with firewalls, SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management and identity and access management solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within healthcare, disability services or other regulated industries.
