About Great River City Light Rail
Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail connects Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.
The role
The Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing corrective and preventive maintenance activities on Parramatta Light Rail Assets.
Key outputs of the role will include the need to:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure the integrity and reliability of the rolling stock.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults utilising technical expertise and diagnostic tools to identify and rectify issues promptly.
- Rescue and recover rolling stock from the network when failed in service
- Manage incident site and repair where required and re-certify the vehicles after such incidents
- Help drive efficiency within the team to ensure availability and fleet performance are improved.
What you bring
In addition to your Cert. III in Mechanical Engineering (or related Trade) your background will include significant experience working in rolling stock maintenance. Your high-level problem-solving skills will allow you to manage difficult situations including responding to emergencies and restoring assets after incidents. This will be supported by the ability carry out asset inspections and undertake fault finding and ensure asset reliability. Equally important is the ability to engage and build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
