Fixed Term, Full-time opportunity based in Bendigo
Help Young People at a crucial time of their lives to change their life trajectory and impact community safety
Salary band of $97,429 - $109,593 plus superannuation

Delivered by the youth justice service as a discrete program Children's Court Youth Diversion (CCYD) has a critical interface with the Youth Justice Court Advice Service. CCYD ensures consistent and equitable access to diversion for eligible young Victorians early in their contact with the Children's Court.

About the role:

As a CCYD Coordinator, you will ensures children and young people before the Children's Court of Victoria are supported to access and complete youth diversion. You will liaise with a range of stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive assessment for diversion suitability and strengthen young people's existing relationships and interests to promote positive change.

Key responsibilities include:

Provide authoritative advice, information and reports to stakeholders and advocate on behalf of the young person, as appropriate.
Undertake evidence-based assessment in relation a young person's eligibility for the CCYD
Provide short term case coordination and facilitate brief interventions for young people with complex needs
Identify issues and trends, assess the potential application of developments in the field
Collect and analyse data that informs current and future policy development and service delivery
Lead day-to-day statutory supervision and case management of young people with complex needs, challenging behaviours and/or high-profile young people on statutory orders issued by the courts or Youth Parole Board.
Develop, implement, and review case plans, programs and services for young people to ensure an appropriate standard of care, supervision, safety and support is provided.

Please note this role requires travel to multiple locations across the Loddon Mallee Region.

In addition, this role may require you to provide community-based supervision and a range of case management and support services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court and adult criminal courts and who have received youth justice supervised orders.

About you:

Advanced understanding of the criminal justice system as it relates to young people, and services available to young people.
Understanding of the principles of diversion and case work and a range of assessment and brief interventions
An in-depth knowledge of restorative justice would be beneficial.
Establishes trust with others, gathers information and develops persuasive arguments based on facts
demonstrates an interest in and an appreciation of a range of different cultures and actively seeks to understand and effectively address the issues and views of others
