Senior Officer Assets
Help shape the future of Council’s infrastructure through quality asset data, smart systems and continuous improvement.
Council is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Senior Officer Assets to join our team and play a key role in maintaining the integrity of Council’s asset information and supporting effective asset management across the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of asset management, data, infrastructure and finance, and who takes pride in ensuring information is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose.
As the Senior Officer Assets, you will provide specialist support to asset custodians across Council and help ensure Council’s asset information is complete, accurate and maintained to a high standard.
You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of Council’s Asset Information Management System, support asset recognition and financial processes, collect and manage asset condition data, and provide meaningful asset information and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to the continual improvement of Council’s asset management practices in alignment with ISO 55000/55001 principles, Asset Management Plans and improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and improve the quality, accuracy and completeness of Council’s asset data and asset database.
- Work collaboratively with asset custodians and stakeholders across Council to support the Asset Responsibility Framework.
- Assist with Asset Management Improvement Plan initiatives and enhancements to Council’s corporate Asset Information Management System.
- Process asset information in accordance with established procedures, templates, filing systems and data standards.
- Complete timely recognition and updating of capital, donated and found assets in accordance with team KPIs.
- Support Finance with end-of-financial-year processes, including asset indexation, revaluation, impairment assessments and audit requests.
- Collect, maintain and manage asset condition assessment data.
- Provide asset data, technical advice and reporting to Council officers, consultants, contractors, developers, residents and government agencies.
- Undertake occasional site visits to newly completed developments to validate asset information at handover.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of Council’s asset management practices.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
You will ideally have formal qualifications or significant experience in database management, asset management and/or finance, together with a strong understanding of civil infrastructure assets.
You will bring:
- The ability to read and interpret civil plans and as-constructed information for asset quantification and data validation.
- Sound knowledge of database architecture, software and database management systems.
- Experience using asset register software and GIS systems, including developing and maintaining related databases.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and consultation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- An understanding of Australian Accounting Standards relating to assets, particularly AASB 116 Property, Plant and Equipment and AASB 13 Fair Value.
- An awareness of local government legislation, regulations, codes and guidelines relevant to asset management.
- General knowledge of the ISO 55000 asset management standards suite and its requirements.
Experience with any of the following will be highly regarded:
- CAD, GIS or FME software.
- IPWEA’s ADAC data standard.
- Civil infrastructure asset management within a local government environment.
- Current Queensland C Class driver’s licence, maintained throughout employment.
- Current Construction Industry White/Blue Card.
