Job Description
Leading Excellence in Perioperative Care
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Peri-Operative Manager to lead our busy and complex Perioperative Department, comprising 22 operating theatres. This is a pivotal leadership position responsible for delivering exceptional patient care, driving operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across perioperative services.
As the Peri-Operative Manager, you will hold a key leadership and management role within the hospital, providing strategic and operational oversight of the Perioperative Department. You will be accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality services.
Working closely with the Deputy Director of Clinical Services and other senior leaders, you will contribute to organisational strategy, enhance procedural service provision, and support the achievement of departmental and hospital strategic objectives.
Your responsibilities will include

Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Perioperative Department, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.

Lead and manage the effective utilisation of workforce, equipment, facilities and other departmental resources to optimise service delivery and efficiency.

Provide direct line management to the CNM Scrub Scout, CNM Anaesthetics and PACU and The CNM procedural Operations

Oversee the planning, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of clinical and operational practices, processes and services.

Drive excellence in patient safety, quality outcomes and customer experience through effective clinical governance and risk management.

Monitor, analyse and improve departmental performance against key quality, activity, financial and operational indicators.

Lead workforce planning initiatives, including recruitment, staff development, succession planning and performance management.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement that supports employee engagement and professional growth.

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory, accreditation and organisational requirements.

Work collaboratively with medical practitioners, executive leaders and key stakeholders to achieve departmental, organisational and strategic objectives.

Support the development and implementation of hospital-wide initiatives that enhance procedural service provision and patient outcomes.

Contribute to strategic planning and organisational decision-making as a key member of the hospital leadership team.

Champion best practice perioperative care through evidence-based decision-making, quality improvement and service innovation
About You
You are an experienced and inspiring perioperative leader with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering operational excellence within a complex healthcare environment. You are strategic, results-focused, and passionate about driving quality patient care and continuous improvement. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates:

Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

Senior Clinical Perioperative leadership experience within an acute hospital/healthcare setting

Strong understanding of private hospital operations, clinical governance and quality frameworks

Proved ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive continuous improvement
-
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience partnering with clinicians, VMO’s and executive leaders
-
Commercial awareness and understanding of operational performance drivers
