The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator (Shutdown Campaigns) in our Steelmaking Asset Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers
At our facility, molten iron produced by our Blast Furnace is transferred to our Basic Oxygen Steel Furnace (BOS), where it is combined with recycled steel to produce molten steel before being refined and cast into slabs. These large-scale operations rely on planned shutdown campaigns to maintain critical equipment, ensuring the continued safe and reliable production of steel.
In this unique role, you'll take ownership of the planning, preparation and execution of the BOS maintenance campaigns. Working alongside a team of experienced maintenance professionals managing the day-to-day operations, you'll coordinate major shutdown activities that see key BOS assets taken offline for inspection, overhaul and renewal.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance professional who enjoys large-scale maintenance execution, contractor management and detailed planning within a heavy industrial environment.
What Will You Do?
As a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator, you will:
-
lead the planning, scheduling and execution of BOS shutdown campaigns - prepare work scopes, resource requirements, budgets and schedules to ensure successful campaign delivery
-
coordinate maintenance activities across multidisciplinary teams, contractors and key stakeholders
-
oversee shutdown execution, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards
-
provide technical support and coordination for mechanical maintenance activities during campaigns
-
review shutdown outcomes and drive continuous improvement opportunities for future campaigns
-
respond to equipment and maintenance issues as required during campaign periods
More About You
You are a motivated maintenance professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and enjoys coordinating large-scale maintenance activities. You will bring:
-
a Mechanical Trade qualification or tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
-
experience coordinating maintenance shutdowns, outages, turnarounds or major maintenance campaigns
-
experience working in heavy industry or similar environments
-
