Monadelphous is seeking an experienced Senior SMP Project Engineer to join our Engineering Construction division, supporting the delivery of a major mining and minerals project in Western Australia. This is a key role on a large-scale project encompassing both SMP and E&I scopes, with a strong focus on Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) delivery. The position will initially be based in the Perth office, before transitioning to site mid September on a 2:1 roster. We are open to candidates based in any major Australian capital city. Key Responsibilities:
-
Lead the development of SMP work packs and oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of structural, mechanical, and piping construction activities

Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery

Provide technical leadership and guidance to supervisors, engineers, and project teams
-
Monitor construction progress, track milestones, and ensure alignment with project schedules
-
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all HSE requirements
-
Ensure works are completed in accordance with quality assurance procedures, client specifications, engineering standards, and ISO requirements
-
Manage subcontractor performance and support commercial activities including cost control, forecasting, progress claims, and change management
-
Support pre-commissioning, mechanical completion, and handover activities as required

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders
What you’ll bring:

Proven experience in a Senior Project Engineer role with a strong SMP background in mining, minerals, oil & gas, or major infrastructure projects

Demonstrated capability in delivering Structural, Mechanical and Piping scopes on large-scale construction projects

Strong experience in planning, scheduling, work pack development, construction methodologies, and progress reporting

Solid commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, contract administration, and change management

Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and site teams
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
-
Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Structural, Civil, or related Engineering discipline

Strong knowledge of applicable Australian standards, quality systems (AS/NZS ISO 9001), and site-based construction practices
-
Ability to work a 2:1 FIFO roster

Valid right to work in Australia
