We are seeking a Structural Designer to support the delivery of high-quality civil and structural design outcomes across a portfolio of infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on transportation infrastructure delivery. This role is suited to a capable and motivated designer who enjoys working in multidisciplinary project environments and contributing to technically complex projects. The Structural Designer will be responsible for developing and coordinating structural 3D models and 2D design documentation under the guidance of senior designers and engineers. The role will support engineering teams from early concept development through to detailed design and execution. While the core focus will be on infrastructure projects such as transport, civil structures, and power generation/transmission, the position will also provide opportunities to contribute to heavy industrial and mining projects.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare structural models and detailed drawings using CAD software for infrastructure projects, including concrete, steel, and civil structures.

Develop and modify models in accordance with project and company BIM standards.

Produce design documentation including general arrangement drawings, reinforcement detailing, steelwork drawings, and schedules.

Coordinate structural models and drawings with civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines.

Assist engineers with design development, including interpreting calculations, sketches, and mark-ups.

Participate in clash detection and model coordination activities.

Ensure documentation complies with relevant standards, codes, client specifications, and quality procedures.

Maintain drawing registers, model version control, and document management systems.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting standards, workflows, and BIM practices.

Support project delivery to meet programme, quality, and budget objectives.

Participate in drawing checks and design reviews under senior guidance.

Verify site conditions and existing dimensions as required to support accurate design

Skills and Experience
Essential:
-
Demonstrated experience as a Structural Designer/Drafter on rail infrastructure projects (e.g. bridges, culverts, retaining structures, stations, civil structures etc.).

Knowledge of Rail Infrastructure Maintainer (RIM) standards.
-
Demonstrated experience as a Structural Designer/Drafter on general infrastructure projects.

Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, including 3D modelling and documentation.

Sound understanding of structural drawings, construction methods, and coordination requirements for infrastructure works.

Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams.

Ability to interpret engineering design information, including calculations, sketches, and marked-up drawings.

High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality outputs.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.

Ability to work independently.

Experience in delivering projects for transport or public infrastructure.
Desirable:
-
Experience with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or other BIM coordination tools.

Experience with the Bentley CAD suite.

Familiarity with BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and ISO 19650 principles.

Knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to structural drafting.
About You
You will hold Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Structural / Civil Engineering Drafting or equivalent practical experience delivering civil and structural design on infrastructure projects. You bring strong capability in 3D design environments, particularly AutoCAD, and have demonstrated experience with rail corridor design. You are confident working across disciplines, understand industry standards and regulatory requirements. Strong communication skills, safety awareness, and the ability to communicate effectively in English are essential.
