Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician to join our Rail Maintenance team based in Altona, VIC! This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining locomotives to the highest operational standards, ensuring fleet reliability, safety and availability.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform mechanical and/or electrical maintenance activities on locomotives including inspections, servicing, repairs, fault finding, testing, calibration and component replacement. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, maintain accurate maintenance records and support safe and efficient rail operations
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on locomotives
- Inspect, service, repair, test and troubleshoot mechanical and/or electrical components.
- Complete maintenance documentation and accurately record data in maintenance systems.
- Deliver clear shift handovers and communicate maintenance outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, availability and maintenance performance.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with operations, train crews and engineering teams.
This role is on a Monday - Friday rotating roster with 2 weeks on day shift, 1 week on afternoon shift. Overtime available on weekends at the discretion of the company.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Either Electrical, Mechanical or Dual Trade
- Ability to work autonomously and with others and foster a good team environment.
- Ability to take on challenges with lateral thinking and implement change.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Desirable
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Rail Safety Awareness Induction
- Forklift Licence
- Experience within the Transport / Rail industry
