About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Staff SAP Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, development, and delivery of enterprise SAP solutions. This is a senior hands-on engineering role suited to someone who combines deep SAP development expertise with modern software engineering practices and cloud integration experience. You will lead the delivery of complex SAP solutions, mentor engineers, establish development standards, and contribute directly to the implementation of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable SAP applications. Technical experience with SAP Banking Services or TRBK will be highly valued.

To be successful in this role, some of the broad roles and responsibilities may include:
- Lead the technical design and hands-on development of complex SAP applications and services using modern ABAP development practices and engineering standards.
- Design and implement integrations between SAP and non-SAP cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and similar enterprise technologies.
- Provide and implement rapid technical solutions for service restoration for major and critical incidents.
- Influence and persuade key stakeholders by articulating complex and inter-related problems across systems that impact SAP.
- Champion clean code, automated testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices across SAP development teams.
- Mentor and coach engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects, Product Owners, Platform Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.
- Evaluate and adopt modern SAP development capabilities, tooling, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Drive DevSecOps adoption by enabling self-service operational activities and dashboards, improving data governance, process, and delivery ownership across product teams for better customer outcomes.
- Champion SRE principles such as automating reliability and alerting, rapid recovery, perform deep root-cause analysis, and engineer permanent, automated preventative solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive hands-on SAP development experience, with a minimum of 5 years with SAP Banking Services or TRBK, or 8 years with other SAP Financial services in highly regulated industries such as banking, financial services, insurance or government.
- Proven experience leading technical delivery while remaining actively involved in software development with strong proficiency in ABAP OO, OData Services, SAP REST APIs and ABAP unit testing.
- Experience designing scalable integration patterns using APIs, messaging, and modern integration technologies with non-SAP cloud-native solutions hosted on AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.
- Experience implementing modern DevOps practices for SAP, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with or direct experience supporting production environments, including incident management, service restoration, root cause analysis, and ITSM processes.
- Working with Agile product delivery teams.
Highly Desired additional requirements
- Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve SAP/ABAP engineering productivity and code quality.
- Experience using modern SAP development environments and IDEs, as well as Git/Github source control workflows.
- Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, particularly with improving observability and automating preventative solutions.
- Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Pager Duty or similar.
