Senior Structural Technician - Maritime
Join WSP's national Maritime team and help deliver major maritime, Defence, transport and infrastructure projects across Australia.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Technician to play a key role in the development and coordination of high-quality digital engineering models and technical documentation for complex infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with structural, civil, geotechnical and maritime engineers to turn engineering concepts into coordinated, accurate and constructible design documentation.
You'll be part of a collaborative national team working across ports, wharves, jetties, terminals, marine facilities, Defence infrastructure and major transport projects, supporting delivery from concept design through to detailed design and construction.
What you'll do
In this role, you'll use your Revit, drafting and digital engineering capability to support the delivery of technical documentation across major maritime and infrastructure projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining high-quality Revit models and associated documentation for maritime infrastructure projects
- Preparing structural drawings, details, schedules and general arrangement documentation to WSP and client standards
- Supporting the delivery of ports, wharves, jetties, terminals, marine facilities and Defence infrastructure projects
- Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams to translate design concepts into coordinated documentation
- Participating in BIM coordination and model reviews to identify and resolve design interfaces and clashes
- Producing accurate and constructible documentation across concept, preliminary and detailed design phases
- Coordinating model and drawing information across project teams throughout Australia
- Supporting construction phase delivery through design revisions, responses to contractor queries and as-constructed documentation
- Contributing to digital engineering initiatives, model management processes and continuous improvement of BIM workflows
- Providing guidance and mentoring to junior technicians and graduates
Supporting a positive safety culture and applying Safety in Design principles

About you
You'll bring strong technical drafting, BIM and digital engineering experience, ideally gained within a consulting engineering, contractor or infrastructure environment.
You'll also bring:
- Demonstrated experience using Autodesk Revit for structural and civil infrastructure projects
- Advanced capability in structural modelling, drawing production and documentation
- Strong understanding of structural detailing principles for reinforced concrete, steel and civil infrastructure works
- Experience producing coordinated design documentation for complex infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation standards and drafting practices
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to programme deadlines
- A practical understanding of constructability and how documentation is used throughout project delivery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
Commitment to mentoring others and sharing technical knowledge

Experience in maritime, port, defence, transport or major civil infrastructure projects will be highly regarded. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, BIM coordination platforms or model management processes would also be beneficial.
Due to the nature of some project work, you will need to be an Australian citizen or otherwise eligible to obtain and maintain Defence security clearance .
