Role purpose
The Quality Assurance Manager leads the quality management, operational control and continuous-improvement framework for Ausgreen Solar Solutions across residential and commercial solar PV, battery storage, EV charger and heat-pump activities. The role ensures that sales handovers, procurement, inventory, design administration, installation coordination, compliance files, customer support and after-sales service consistently meet company standards, contractual commitments and applicable regulatory requirements. It provides independent oversight, converts operational data into corrective action and strengthens quality accountability across the business.
Key accountabilities
· Develop, implement and maintain Ausgreen's quality management system, policies, standard operating procedures, checklists, document controls and corrective-action framework using ISO 9001-aligned principles.
· Map and review the complete customer and project lifecycle from lead qualification and quotation through site assessment, procurement, installation scheduling, commissioning, handover, monitoring and after-sales support.
· Establish quality gates for sales-to-operations handover, system documentation, customer approvals, product allocation, installation readiness, commissioning records and project close-out.
· Plan and conduct internal quality audits and process reviews across the Fyshwick office and warehouse, installation operations, service activities, company vehicles and temporary project storage locations.
· Monitor the completeness and accuracy of project compliance files, including approved designs, equipment records, serial-number traceability, installation and commissioning evidence, warranties, customer handover documents and required electrical or scheme documentation.
· Work with technical and operations personnel to ensure that quality processes support applicable solar, battery, electrical, WHS, consumer-protection, finance and government-rebate requirements without assuming the duties of licensed technical practitioners.
· Define and report quality KPIs covering installation defects, rework, callbacks, documentation completeness, first-time resolution, complaint ageing, supplier non-conformance, stock variance, scheduling performance and customer satisfaction.
· Lead root-cause investigations into installation defects, system performance concerns, monitoring or connectivity issues, customer complaints, missed commitments and process failures; implement and verify corrective and preventive actions.
· Maintain a complaint and service-action framework with clear ownership, due dates, escalation thresholds, customer updates, closure evidence and trend reporting to management.
· Oversee supplier and product quality controls for panels, inverters, batteries, mounting systems, EV chargers, heat pumps and balance-of-system materials, including receiving inspection, quarantine, warranty claims and vendor performance reviews.
· Strengthen monthly inventory-control processes through stocktake review, serial tracking, reconciliation, exception analysis and corrective action in collaboration with purchasing, warehouse and operations personnel.
· Coordinate audit preparation, regulator or scheme information requests and management reviews, ensuring supporting evidence is accurate, current, controlled and readily retrievable.
· Drive process standardisation, workflow improvement and suitable automation across CRM records, job scheduling, quality registers, service tracking and management reporting.
· Deliver quality and compliance awareness training, competency checks and coaching for sales, customer service, warehouse, purchasing, service coordination and installation-support personnel.
· Prepare concise monthly and ad hoc reports for the Director and Operations Manager, highlighting performance trends, material risks, overdue actions and recommended improvements.
· Promote a no-blame but accountable quality culture in which issues are reported early, evidence is preserved and recurring failures are prevented.
Key deliverables and performance measures
· Reduction in installation defects, rework, repeat service calls, complaints and preventable operational losses.
· Improved completeness and accuracy of project, commissioning, warranty and compliance documentation.
· Timely closure of audit findings, complaints, supplier non-conformances and corrective actions.
· Improved first-time-right performance, installation readiness, service response and customer satisfaction.
· Accurate monthly quality and inventory-control reporting with clear evidence and accountable follow-up.
· Demonstrable adoption of standard procedures and quality controls across office, warehouse and field operations.
Decision-making authority
· Set and recommend quality standards, control checks, audit schedules, monitoring methods and improvement priorities within delegated authority.
· Escalate material safety, compliance, customer, product or operational risks to the Director or Operations Manager.
· Place non-conforming stock or incomplete project files on hold and recommend pausing a process or job where required controls have not been met, subject to company delegations and licensed technical decisions.
· Approve routine corrective-action plans, quality training requirements and quality reports within the role's authority.
Qualifications and experience
· Bachelor degree or higher qualification in business, commerce, quality management, risk, finance, operations or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of relevant qualification and substantial experience may be considered.
· Substantial professional experience in quality assurance, operational risk, controls, compliance, transaction or service operations, including experience at management level.
· Demonstrated experience designing or operating quality management frameworks, conducting audits and control reviews, and leading corrective and preventive action.
· Demonstrated ability to transfer quality-management disciplines into a project-based, regulated service environment; renewable-energy industry experience is desirable but not essential.
· Practical understanding of ISO 9001 quality-management principles and continuous-improvement or root-cause-analysis methodologies.
· Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, coaching teams and communicating quality and risk matters to executives, auditors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
