About the role
Afterpay Arena is looking for an Inventory Controller to play a key role behind some of Sydney’s biggest live entertainment experiences.
Working closely with the Finance and Catering Departments, as well as external suppliers, the role is central to coordinating procurement and stock ordering processes, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the inventory management system, and managing reporting and stocktake activities. Reporting to the Operations Finance Manager, The Inventory Controller plays a key role in minimising wastage, supporting operational efficiency and delivering strong commercial outcomes across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- In conjunction with Senior Hospitality Manager and the Executive Chef, develop policies and procedures for inventory purchasing, rotation practices, storage and transfers and ensure they are adhered to.
- Monitor and control all inventory issues, storage and transfers between locations and outlets.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of inventory level for Stores, ensuring stock par levels are appropriate for event and operational requirements.
- In consultation with Senior Hospitality Manager, initiate, coordinate and control all stocktake processes across the venue. Ensure stocktakes are completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures on a monthly basis.
- Monitor, analyse and control inventory usage, spoilage, breakage and wastage.
- Generate and place inventory purchase orders in Cooking The Books in an accurate and timely manner, liaising with the Kitchen and Food & Beverage Coordinator on stock requests as required.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, product availability, delivery schedules and discrepancies.
- Prepare inventory, cost and usage reports by event and department as required.
- Support month-end financial processes including reconciliations, stock valuation and reporting requirements.
About You
- 5+ years' experience in inventory control, procurement or stock management within hospitality, catering, entertainment or venue operations.
- Experience using inventory management software; proficiency with "Cooking in the Books" software will be highly regarded.
- Experience working within high volume food and beverage environments preferred.
- Commercially aware with strong cost-control focus.
- Strong analytical, reporting and reconciliation skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced event environment.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to build collaborative working relationships across departments.
