Details: An opportunity exists within the Data Insight Services Team (DIS) as Data Engineer. In this role you will work as part of the team and apply technical skills to ingest, maintain, and optimise data in line with data governance requirements. The role will automate key data processes, improving efficiency across the education system and supporting digital data strategies that enable timely, evidence based decision making.
Through understanding the WhoG technology and data strategy, the role will ensure alignment and ongoing improvement with existing solutions and standards. The role will collaborate with key technical and business staff across the organisation to develop effective business solutions, building strong relationships within and beyond ACT Education to support the system’s ongoing growth.
This is a growth focused role that provides hands on technical experience in Azure data services, SQL development, data modelling, and modern data platform tools. The position is ideal to apply best practices and contribute to a high performing data insights function.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, computer science or software engineering highly desirable.

Cloud platform experience (Azure preferred)

Knowledge of Power BI

Knowledge of ticketing systems (Jira preferred).

Notes: This is a temporary position available from 1 September 2026 to 1 March 2027 with the possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
