Our Services team is part of the Motorola Solutions business covering the Australia and New Zealand region. We are a professional services team that delivers systems integration projects and managed services to our customers. We deliver customer focused world-class, leading edge, end-to-end solutions
fit for purpose within each customer’s unique environment that include various voice (including radio) communications, data and video technologies with our clients predominantly in the public safety government sector and the energy & natural resources industry.
As a Field Engineer, you will provide a wide range of hands-on field engineering services to support the
government and energy & natural business, assisting the formulation, delivery and implementation of solutions to customers’ requirements to achieve Total Customer Satisfaction. This typically involves all aspects of RF site maintenance and on site control room console technical support.
You will be responsible for:
- Provide system troubleshooting, diagnostic and rectification of technical issues in Motorola Solutions radio communications products and third-party equipment (microwave, multiplexer, RF antenna and power systems) including customer console equipment eg PC, routers and switches at Agency Emergency Communications Centres / Operational Control centres.
- Carry out a variety of tasks and modify, repair, maintain, upgrade and install communication systems, equipment, parts and accessories
- Conduct coverage testing and "on-air tests" in accordance with customer operational environment
- Attend sites for scheduled Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI)

- Participate in On Call Standby roster, 24x7 operation
- Complete and maintain written records and paperwork associated with work performed
- Ensure all operational documentation remain up-to-date and relevant
- Ensure Occupational Health and Safety guidelines are applied as appropriate
- Other ad hoc requests as directed with focus on specific customer contracts and SLA's

Education and Qualifications
Essential:
- Diploma or degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic/Technology) or related discipline
It will also be beneficial (not mandatory) if you have:
- Industry recognized certification e.g.: (Aviat / NSN / Juniper / HP / Cisco)
- Cabling License (ACMA - Open)
Experience and Skills
Essential:
- High level of understanding of LMR Communication systems and IP Networks
- 5+ years experience with a wide range of communications products and systems including
system installation, commissioning and exposure to customer issues
- Analysis and fault-finding skills on a systems level
- Participate in an on call roster system.
It will also be beneficial (not mandatory) if you have:
- Detailed knowledge of Microwave Linking Systems (Aviat / NSN / Cambium)
- Detailed knowledge of WAN technologies, routing & encryption (Juniper / HP / Telstra GWIP)
- Familiarity with digital Two-Way Radio Systems (in particular Tetra, P25 & DMR / MotoTRBO).
- High-level experience in a particular field of electronics or systems and implementation (e.g. data
communications, antenna site design wide-area systems)
- Membership eligibility of Engineers Australia or equivalent recognised industry group
