The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer / Automation Engineer to join a high-performing delivery and engineering team.
This is a hands-on role focused on building, maintaining, and evolving automated testing frameworks and test solutions across enterprise applications. You will work closely with developers, manual testers, and delivery teams to identify automation opportunities, improve testing efficiency, and increase confidence in software releases.
The ideal candidate will bring strong automation engineering experience, a solid development background in C#, hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks, and a proactive approach to improving quality through automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers, testers, and delivery teams to identify and prioritise automation opportunities.
- Participate in planning discussions to assess testability and define automation strategies for upcoming features.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and reusable test automation frameworks.
- Review manual test cases and identify high-value candidates for automation based on risk, frequency, and complexity.
- Develop and maintain automated integration, API, and end-to-end test suites.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Perform database validation, test data creation, and test data management activities.
- Support automation reporting, execution analysis, and defect investigation.
- Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability, and maintainability.
- Participate in exploratory, smoke, sanity, and regression testing activities where required.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve application quality and testability.
- Maintain automation documentation, testing standards, and framework guidelines.
What You'll Need
- Experience as an Automation Engineer, Software Test Engineer, SDET, or similar role.
- Strong hands-on development experience using C#.
- Understanding of Web APIs, including routing, request/response handling, and error management.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to:
- Write validation queries.
- Create and manage test data.
- Perform database verification activities.
- Experience designing and implementing automated testing solutions.
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as:
- Playwright
- Selenium WebDriver
- Or equivalent tools
- Experience developing integration and API automated tests.
- Strong experience using NUnit.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
- Experience using Git and modern source control practices.
- Experience with test reporting tools such as Allure, ExtentReports, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Hands-on experience with exploratory, smoke, sanity, and regression testing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across delivery teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with SpecFlow, Cucumber, or other BDD frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery environments.
- Exposure to API testing tools such as Postman, RestSharp, or similar.
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps testing and release processes.
- Experience working within enterprise-scale digital transformation programs.
- Understanding of test strategy, risk-based testing, and quality engineering practices.
- Experience supporting highly integrated enterprise applications and platforms.
- Exposure to performance, load, or non-functional testing practices.
