The Role
We’re looking for a Principal Java Software Engineer to join a small, highly skilled team supporting and developing a life-critical government application used to coordinate search and rescue and pollution response incidents. You’ll work across the back-end Java, AWS and Oracle components that keep this system running, alongside experienced Java and .NET developers.
This is a great opportunity for a senior developer who enjoys deep technical ownership, working across the full stack from data modelling through to cloud integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise-grade software using Java and Oracle technologies
- Design and implement data models, and build RESTful/SOAP web services and API specifications
- Develop and maintain DevOps workflows using Jenkins, Git, Maven and Ant
- Produce and maintain detailed design artefacts and technical specifications
- Provide technical advice and support to leadership, including participation in an on-call roster
Required
- Current AGSVA Baseline security clearance
- At least 8 years’ Java experience, including enterprise design patterns and Spring/SpringBoot
- Experience with major database platforms and data modelling, Oracle preferred
- Experience with AWS development (EC2, Lambdas, API Gateway, S3/SQS, CloudFormation)
- Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call roster and strong written/verbal communication skills
